05. Social media

Presence in social networks (social media)

Purposes of processing

We are represented on social media platforms to get in touch with the users of these platforms and to increase our reach (level of awareness). Communication with users takes place through the use of the functions available on the platforms. In order to measure the success of our activities, we use evaluations offered by the respective manufacturer or tracking functions (e.g. for interest / behavior-related profiling), cookies and remarketing functions. In order to promote the exchange of views or to win new customers, we look after groups.

Notes on data processing by social networks

The operators of social networks are usually not based in the European Union. This means that personal data is also processed outside of the European Union (e.g. USA). As a result, there is an increased risk that user data will not be processed in accordance with the data protection requirements required by the European Union or that it will be difficult or impossible for users to exercise their rights.

Social networks process extensive user data in order to create personal usage profiles. These usage profiles are used in particular for advertising purposes or market research data. This can be expressed in the form of advertisements that are displayed to users within or outside of the social networks that correspond to the interests of the user. In addition, for example, data on the devices, browsers and resolution used when using the platforms are usually assigned to the usage profile. For these purposes, cookies are stored on the users' computers, among other things.

For a detailed description of the respective forms of processing and the options for objection (OptOut), we refer to the data protection declarations and information provided by the operators of the respective networks.

You can best assert your rights as a data subject (e.g. information or deletion) with the respective provider. Only the operators of the social platforms have access to your data and can fulfill your requests for data subject rights.

We also record various log files (e.g. anonymized IP address, referrer, browser and operating system used) and can measure whether our website visitors carry out certain actions (e.g. clicks, etc.). 07. Advertising

Google AdWords

The website operator uses Google Ads. Google Ads is an online advertising program from Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Ads enables us to display advertisements in the Google search engine or on third-party websites if the user enters certain search terms on Google (keyword targeting). In addition, targeted advertisements can be displayed based on the user data available on Google (e.g. location data and interests) (target group targeting). As the website operator, we can quantitatively evaluate this data, for example by analyzing which search terms led to our advertisements being displayed and how many advertisements led to the corresponding clicks.

The use of Google Ads is based on Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in marketing his service products as effectively as possible.

The data transfer to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission. You can find details here: https://privacy.google.com/businesses/controllerterms/mccs/.

08. Newsletter and mail advertising

Newsletter

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we need an email address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. Further data is not collected or is only collected on a voluntary basis. We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and do not pass it on to third parties.

The processing of the data entered in the newsletter registration form takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke your consent to the storage of the data, the e-mail address and their use for sending the newsletter at any time, for example via the "Unsubscribe" link in the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you have stored with us for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from the newsletter distribution list after you unsubscribe from the newsletter or after the purpose has ceased to exist. We reserve the right to delete or block e-mail addresses from our newsletter distribution list at our own discretion within the framework of our legitimate interest in accordance with Art. 6 Paragraph 1 lit.

After you have been removed from the newsletter distribution list, your email address may be stored in a blacklist by us or the newsletter service provider in order to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist will only be used for this purpose and will not be merged with other data. This serves both your interest and our interest in compliance with the legal requirements when sending newsletters (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR). The storage in the blacklist is not limited in time. You can object to the storage provided that your interests outweigh our legitimate interests.

Rapidmail

This website uses Rapidmail to send newsletters. The provider is rapidmail GmbH, Augustinerplatz 2, 79098 Freiburg i.Br., Germany.

Rapidmail is a service with which, among other things, the dispatch of newsletters can be organized and analyzed. The data you enter for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored on the Rapidmail servers in Germany.

If you do not want an analysis by Rapidmail, you have to unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a link for this in every newsletter message. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter directly on the website.

Data analysis through Rapidmail

For the purpose of analysis, the emails sent with Rapidmail contain a so-called "tracking pixel" that connects to the Rapidmail servers when the email is opened. In this way it can be determined whether a newsletter message has been opened.

Furthermore, with the help of Rapidmail, we can determine whether and which links are clicked on in the newsletter message. All links in the email are so-called tracking links, with which your clicks can be counted. If you do not want an analysis by Rapidmail, you have to unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a link for this in every newsletter message.

You can find more information about the analysis functions of Rapidmail at the following link: https://de.rapidmail.wiki/ategorien/statistiken/.

Legal basis

The data processing takes place on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time. The legality of the data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the revocation.

Storage period

The data you have stored with us for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from the newsletter distribution list after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. This does not affect data that we have saved for other purposes.

For more information, see the data security information from Rapidmail at: https://www.rapidmail.de/datensicherheit.

Conclusion of an order processing contract

We have concluded a contract with Rapidmail in which we oblige Rapidmail to protect the data of our customers and not to pass them on to third parties.

09. Plugin and tools

YouTube with extended data protection

This website integrates videos from YouTube. The operator of the website is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

We use YouTube in the extended data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode ensures that YouTube does not store any information about visitors to this website before they watch the video. However, the transfer of data to YouTube partners is not necessarily excluded by the extended data protection mode. This is how YouTube - regardless of whether you are watching a video - connects to the Google DoubleClick network.

As soon as you start a YouTube video on this website, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. The YouTube server is informed which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

Furthermore, YouTube can save various cookies on your device after starting a video or use comparable recognition technologies (e.g. device fingerprinting). In this way, YouTube can obtain information about visitors to this website. This information is used, among other things, to collect video statistics, improve user-friendliness and prevent attempted fraud.

If necessary, further data processing operations can be triggered after the start of a YouTube video, over which we have no influence.

YouTube is used in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offers. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6 Paragraph 1 lit. the consent can be revoked at any time.

You can find more information about data protection at YouTube in their data protection declaration at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de.

Google reCaptcha

We use “Google reCAPTCHA” (hereinafter “reCAPTCHA”) on this website. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

The purpose of reCAPTCHA is to check whether data is entered on this website (e.g. in a contact form) by a person or by an automated program. To do this, reCAPTCHA analyzes the behavior of the website visitor based on various characteristics. This analysis begins automatically as soon as the website visitor enters the website. For the analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates various information (e.g. IP address, length of stay of the website visitor on the website or mouse movements made by the user). The data collected during the analysis are forwarded to Google.

The reCAPTCHA analyzes run completely in the background. Website visitors are not informed that an analysis is taking place.

The storage and analysis of the data takes place on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in protecting its web offers from abusive automated spying and from SPAM. If a corresponding consent has been requested, processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR; the consent can be revoked at any time.

Further information on Google reCAPTCHA can be found in the Google data protection provisions and the Google Terms of Use under the following links: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de and https://policies.google.com/terms?hl=de .

Please note that we do not have full influence on the data processing operations of the tools used. Our options are largely based on the company policy of the respective provider. Further information on data processing by the conference tools can be found in the data protection declarations of the tools used, which we have listed under this text.

Purpose and legal basis
